www.HowCanIRetire.net Just a day or so ago he wanted to raise the expatriate tax and now...
The Premiere of the Cayman Islands, McKeeva Bush, has now decided to raise more than $50 million so as to approve a budget that is needed for his country.
A few days ago it was practically written in stone that it would be the 10% income tax on expatriate workers.
That plan is now scrapped after a lot of protests about it.
Now it will be a departure tax raised up from $25.00 to $37.00.
Also, a hotel tax raised up to 13% from its previous position of 10%.
As he likes to make statements like this we will see what actually happens as the British government will have to approve this idea, and we should know for sure by August 20 of this year.
Premiere McKeeva Bush told reporters that the fees would be going up for work permits, used by the higher paid people.
Some would be the financial controllers, as well as for accountants, real estate brokers and some other upper management job, but not for the janitors etc. as those costs would remain the same.
So again I have to say we'll have to wait and see what happens by August 20th of this year.
